Cycling amongst lush forests and the sea 9 – 15 days

Day one: Transfer from the airport or railway station to the hotel
Transfer from the airport or railway station to the hotel, bike and equipment check. A stroll around the town with an acquaintance evening. Later on the introduction of the guide and presentation of the tour.

Day two: Nova Gorica – Korada – Goriška brda – Nova Gorica*
From Nova Gorica we will cycle along Alpine beauty Soča towards the highest hill of Goriška Brda – Korada, and from there on the ridge that offers us a view towards Italy, Alps, and Banjiška and Trnovska plateau on the other side of the river. Descent towards Goriška Brda will take us to the wine growing area, where we will see one of the many vine cellars and have a snack before we will continue the tour towards our starting point.

Day three: Nova Gorica – Kras (Karst) – Bazovica
The labyrinth of paths and single trails will take us on the karstic landscape to a sightseeing point Kremenjak, as well as many historic sites from World War II. Amongst vineyards we will cycle to a homestead, where we will have a meal and take a rest before we will continue towards the home of the Lipizzaner horses – Lipica and later on Bazovica.

Day four: Bazovica – Trieste Karst – Kozina
The tour will take us on the Trieste Karst through the surroundings of neighbouring villages of Bazovica, Gropada, Fernetiči, communities on the border of karst above Trieste to the valley of river Glinščica. The tour is distinguished by the beautiful karst walkways that are a part of marked trails CAI (CAI – Club Alpino Italiano), cart tracks and beautiful views over the Trieste Bay. When we ascent on the abandoned railway route towards Kozina, the path leads us through many tunnels and beautiful views over this magnificent valley.

Day five: Kozina – Čičarija – Buzet
Cycling along the west part of Slovenian Čičarija takes us to the border of karst with beautiful views over the sea. A beautiful karst landscape meets us woven with cart tracks and walkways which will make our cycling to Istria town of Buzet even more fun. In Buzet we will have a much deserved dinner and a rest before the next cycling day.

Day six: Buzet – a negotiable local biking trip and a picnic*
Cycling on the legendary route of the Marathon Parenzana takes us through Istria villages well known by truffles and good vine.

Day seven: Buzet – Učka – Ilirska Bistrica
After breakfast and morning coffee we will, over the peaks of Čičarija and their views of Istria and the sea, cycle all the way to National Park Učka, from where dirt roads and single trails will take us to Ilirska Bistrica.

Day eight: Ilirska Bistrica – Sviščaki – Mašun
After breakfast and morning coffee the ascent to Sviščaki awaits us. Sviščaki is a housing estate of vacation homes below Snežnik with a tourist – recreational centre and a smaller ski resort. There we will have a smaller picnic in the company of locals and intact nature. Before the evening starts we have a descent to mountain hut on Mašun, a well-deserved dinner and rest.

Day nine: Mašun – Gorski Kotar – Osilnica
Cycling takes us from Mašun across a hundred year old forests intertwined with a labyrinth of dirt roads and single trails of Gorski Kotar to the town of Gerovo, from where we descend to a village Osilnica, where we have a pleasant meal at a hotel Kovač (Blacksmith).

Day ten: Osilnica – rafting and fun*
The day is meant for regeneration! We will go rafting on river Kolpa and have a fun picnic.

Day eleven: Osilnica – Rimska vrata (Roman gates) – Opatija
The ascent from Osilnica takes us to Rimska cesta (Roman road) and from there to a pass Rimska vrata (Roman gates) (1348m), from where we will slowly descent through vast spruce forests towards the sea in Opatija.

Day twelve: Exploration of Učka by bike*
After breakfast and morning coffee we will drive with a transport vehicle to Poklon (900 m), we will explore National Park Učka and its sights on single trails and forest routes.

Day thirteen: Exploration of west Istria by bike*
Cycling along southwest Istria coast, with a starting point in the town of Vodnjan, takes us through ancient olive plantations. All this time we will have a chance to see the beautiful archipelago of national park Brioni. We will cycle to an old fishing village of Barbariga, and through the pine forest to Austro-Hungarian fortress, a beautiful view over the Adriatic Sea and after a short ascent we will finish where we started.

Day fourteen: Opatija - a day on the sea with a local biking trip and a party*
A well deserved day of rest on the beach with a short cycling trip along walkway by the sea, and the sightseeing of a typical old Mediterranean fishing village of Volosko with a party.

Day fifteen: Late breakfast and transfer to the airport or railway station

* Marked days can be left out and the tour shortened!
